Recycling Day

The first morning of the year has come.
I lift guarded eyes as I wheel
the big blue cart to the street.

Riding on my shoulders are the
hopes, sorrows and dreams
of ten thousand ancestors.

We hold our beautiful breath
as we step together into
the spotless year.
